I can’t believe this year is nearly over, it just seems like only a few weeks ago when I was writing my post, “2008 Reflection”.
But now when I actually give myself a minute to sit back and reflect on 2009, I realize just how much my life has changed, not just in my business but also in my private life too…and fortunately they are all positive changes.
Back in March this year, I left my job as a Casino Manager onboard cruise ships. I had spent 13 years at sea working on
the ships and it really has been an incredible chapter in my life. It has taken me all over the world, and I have been very fortunate to have experienced some amazing countries and cultures.
I left my job on the ships to take up Internet Marketing full time, and also to move out and live in Thailand. I have been
living here with my girlfriend since May, and now we are expecting our first child in February next year. I am so happy I made these big changes this year, because I am just loving my life out here in beautiful Thailand and really excited to become a father soon.
On a professional level, my business has just really taken off in the last few months. The change for the better all really started when I joined Alex Jeffreys coaching program back in July. Alex showed me how to focus on the right things in my business, and also installed in me the importance of having a clear plan.
This has been invaluable to me and is the reason for my business increasing 10 fold in the last few months. When I joined Alex’s coaching back in July, my list was at around 500 subscribers, now it is over 6000. I have now created my own product, and I am also building niche websites at the rate of about 1 a week and I have just finished hosting my own Giveaway event. Of course my earnings have increased dramatically because of all this.
But I am not going to slow down. In fact, I am planning to build my business to much larger proportions in 2010.
How You Can Succeed in 2010
Now I want to help you start the New Year off in the right way and get some momentum going for you.
As I mentioned earlier, to succeed you need to have a plan and a clear picture of where you want to be and how you are going to get there.
What I suggest you do before the new year starts, is to get yourself a pen and note pad and give yourself a couple of hours where you can close yourself off from any distractions. Whether you do this by shutting yourself in your office or bedroom, or by going to sit in Starbucks on your own. Just as long as you can sit down and concentrate without the normal daily distractions getting in the way.
What you need to do is decide where you want to be in your business and your life by the end of 2010. Set yourself realistic goals for both your professional and personal life.
To achieve these goals you need to have a clear plan of how you are going to get there. The best way to do this is to break your plan down into four 90 day plans, then your first 90 day plan into a monthly plan, then your first monthly plan into a weekly plan. You should then always give yourself a to-do list for the next day, with all of the jobs you list helping you achieve your long term goals.
Creating your plan should be a priority for you. I will readily say that without a plan YOU WILL NOT SUCCEED. It’s as simple as that.
So I strongly urge you to find a couple of hours before the end of this year to sit down, shut out any distractions and work out your 1 year, 90 day, 1 month and your first weeks plans.
What I Will be Doing to Help You
Last month I made a post titled “Help me to help you”. I will be using the responses there to base some of my next blog posts around.
These are some of the things I will be covering:
- How to create a website
- Market research, how to find a profitable niche
- Time management
- How to stay focused
- SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
I have created a new category in my Blog called “Action Steps” and this is where I will be posting these instructional posts.
I would just like to take this opportunity to say that I look forward to working with you in the New Year. I wish you and your families all the best for the holidays, and here’s to a VERY prosperous 2010 to us all.

Thank you, Paul, for the concepts. I am working on some of your suggestions right now. I have been studying internet marketing for some time and am pretty good at it, but your concepts are taking it to a whole new level.
Thanks Paul for your reminder that we need to keep our objectives clearly in mind and make sure our plans and our actions are consistent with our objectives. I’ll keep this in mind as I go through the next year.
Hi Don, a man with a plan will always succeed
. All the best for 2010

Hi Lee,
Congratulations on taking the step and joining Alex’s coaching program. It really was a life changing move for me, and i’m sure it will be for you too. Alex seems to have this unique knack of driving people to success. I have seen so many of Alex’s students just launch their biz into overdrive after his coaching.
I’m sure this will really give your online business a huge boost Lee, and i hope i can do a bit for you too.
Thanks for stopping by, Merry Christmas to you too.
Cheers,
Paul
Thanks Paul. I have a blog up and running. Very basic but it’s a start. Check it out when you have time.
Thailand huh? I’ve heard it’s beautiful down there.
Lee

And what a great way to start 2010. I’m very happy for you becoming a father soon.
Your success online is remarkable and you deserve it because of your hard work and your helpfulness.

Hi Paul,
This is a great post and shows how far you have come in the space of a few short months. You are really ramping up your list building and I can see you having a colossal subscriber base in a year’s time.
Super affiliate status will not be too far away as well as having an army of loyal fans to buy your follow ups to the List Building Diary!
Well done Paul and I look forward to seeing what else you come up with in 2010.
David
Hi Paul,
Just saw your link over at AJ’s Gangsta Forum so I thought I’d mosey on over and see what you were up to. Well done on all your achievements.
And WOW! Look at that list explosion. We did a swap in September 09 when you were on about 2,500. Maybe it’s time to do a 6K swap. I’ll match that for you. Just hit me up with a date in an email.
Paul, that security code is a real barrier to getting comments. I dumped mine 12 months ago. It’s a real impediment. And there’s another little tip waiting for you back on that forum. It concerns permalinks. I’m gonna tell you how to get that sorted out.
Regards
Gary Simpson

Hi David,
Thanks for popping over. Yes, things have been going well in the last few months and i will be continuing with the list building efforts, as well as several other projects throughout 2010.
Hope all is well with you and your enjoying the festivities.
Cheers,
Paul
Hi Gary,
Great to see you over here. Yes, the list building has been going really well the last few months, and i will continue that throughout 2010 too.
I’ll send you an email Gary, we’ll sort out a swap for January.
I agree about the security code, i forgot it was there to be honest. I will remove that.
As for my permalinks, it’s a little more complicated. I have many articles on various article sites linking back to various posts in this Blog. If i change the permalink structure here, it will mess up all of the links in the articles.
I wish i had sorted out the link structure when i set the blog up, now it’s a bit late.
I’ll be in touch soon Gary.
Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul,
You have really made some great achievements this year. Sounds like everything is going really well for you and planning to get even better. I am working on my plans for the year right now. I need to put more thought into it and break down my plans/goals into smaller pieces. Congrats on your baby! How exciting. =)

Hi Paul,
Regarding my plans for 2010 I feel more focused now having been to the Alex Jeffreys Las Vegas Workshop in the 4th week of January.
It was great to meet Alex and many of his students.
You were missed by many.
Perhaps you’ll make it there the next time and quite likely as a guest speaker.
There were 3 students from the 1.0 class who are already very successful and were guest speakers: Jit Uppal, Dean Holland and Adam Spiel.
You can view some pictures and get a peek inside the workshop by visiting my blog.
I realize that your little one is due soon so you may not visit for a while.
Vance
Hey Paul
You need a new post about your new arrival, so we can all say
“CONGRATULATIONS!”You’ve a wild and wonderful ride ahead of you. Enjoy all the days, as all too soon they’re merely memories.
Best regards
Anthony

You are now at the 6000 level.Further evidence that “this guy knows what he is talking about”.Any Newbies?Get that book NOW.
