How to get around Ezine Articles no Affiliate Link Policy

Article Marketing is a very versatile and effective strategy to use in your online business, and Ezine Articles is highly regarded as the top Article directory available. The reason for this is that they have a very strict acceptance policy for the articles they publish so people know that any article that does get published on Ezine Articles will be of top quality.

Another reason that Ezine Articles are the best directory to use is because Google absolutely loves any articles published on there, they get indexed very quickly and can show up high in the Google rankings (depending on your keyword selection). Articles published on Ezine also respond very well to backlinking, again making them a very powerful free tool to use in your online business.

But as I mentioned, they are a very strict directory with very specific rules that must be followed, and one of these rules is that they don’t allow you to use any affiliate links anywhere within your article or resource box. So what this has meant too many is they have to direct their traffic to a landing page, their Blog or to a website they own themselves, which does restrict your ability to promote any affiliate products.

There is a way round this, and this is by buying a domain name (related to the affiliate product you want to write about and promote) and redirecting it to the affiliate product.

You can buy a .info domain name at GoDaddy.com for $0.99, so this is a worth while process if you want to write articles to promote a specific affiliate product.

I have created a short video for you here to show you exactly what you have to do to redirect your domain.

  1. Again great video.Ive got to admit the .info advice was good. I have bought domains before for affilate links but have purchased .com which can be expensive .

Most affiliate links are ugly and scream sell to the customer …using the .info links is a more subtle approach

thanks mate speak soon…hows thailand is it raining !! It is in wales

  2. Paul Hooper says:

Hi Rich, yes, for the sake of forwarding a domain to use in an article, a .info domain is perfectly sufficient. It would get a bit expensive if you write a lot of articles about different products and you used a .com domain each time.

    Cheers,
    Paul

your videos are so easy to follow clear and precise
    thanks mick

  14. Ooh, good one! Ezinearticles.com is soo powerful for Google rankings. Can you (or have you already) written about placing links inside the articles? I just noticed that you CAN do that – as long as you keep them “below the fold” – whatever they mean by that…

Anyway – great blog. Keep it up!

    Cheers,
    Thomas

  15. Paul Hooper says:

    Hi Mick,

Article Marketing really is an effective strategy to improve traffic to your sites and to create additional product sales. Ezine Articles are the pick of the big bunch, I would definitely recommend using them.

    Cheers,
    Paul

  16. Paul Hooper says:

    Hi Thomas,
With Ezine Articles you are allowed a maximum of 4 links, 2 within the body and 2 within your resource box. They don’t allow you to put any links, active or inactive within the first 3 paragraphs of your article and any link put within the main body must NOT be a self serving link i.e. you cannot link back to a site or product you are promoting through your article. The self serving links are only allowed in the resource box.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    Paul

  17. Hi Paul,

    Great post again!

I use ezinearticles, and my recent article has had 8 url clicks in 24 hours, which is great.

I wanted to know your thoughts on other article directories, and do you use them? I have used Go Articles and Article City.

    Be interstied to know :)

    Hope to talk soon!

    Sean

  18. Paul Hooper says:

    Hi Sean,

Now I only use other directories to build up backlinks for my Ezine articles. I have tried out several other directories to post my main articles on before, but I’ve never had the same success with them as I do with EA. For me, articles published on EA index so much quicker than other directories, plus they respond very well to backlinking. Articles published on Go Articles also respond to backlinking well, but not enough for me to change from EA.
    Speak soon Sean.
    Cheers,
    Paul

  19. Rob Willis says:

    Paul,
    Great idea Paul.
I think article marketing is one of the best backlinking strategies for your own website.

However the advise you give here to use it to link back to an affiliate link is a great way to get around their policies.
Unfortunatly they will probably stop the redirection in time also.

Perhaps redirecting to a squeeze page would also work.

    Regards,

    Rob

  20. Paul Hooper says:

    Hi Rob,
Yes, article marketing is such an effective strategy for several different things, it is a very versatile marketing method. Absolutely you can redirect back to a squeeze page, and if they change and I do this quite regularly when giving away a free product for list building purposes. But when I’m promoting a paid product, I want to get the reader to the sales page in as few clicks as possible. Each time you ask somebody to click another link you stand a greater chance of them leaving and not getting to your desired destination (the sales page in this case).
    Cheers,
    Paul

  21. Richard says:

I wonder in the end if the future is just to drive them back to a blog post that expands on your artice….yes one more click but you can give them all sorts of free content from here.

I think im going to test this.

    hope alls ok Paul

  22. Paul Hooper says:

    Hi Richard,
Yes this works too. I actually have another Blog http://www.online-niche-store.com which I basically use just as a landing page for my Articles. I write a review, or list the benefits of the product I am writing about and link to this post from the articles I write. It is an effective method and does create sales.
Give it a go Rich, it does work.
    Speak soon.
    Cheers,
    Paul

    Hey,Paul,
I am student of alex as well. I had very hard time with eZineArticles.com.They were sending me different messages with complains and I wasted 2 weeks and my article still didn’t go through their approvement.I gave them up one time and forever.
If you have some good experience with this Directory, can you drop me a line about this?
    Thank you!
    P.S.You have a nice blog.I like it!

  26. Graeme Ashe says:

    Hi Paul

    Great post!!

Ezine rules and I have found if you take time to do your keyword research for your articles posted there its hell of a lot easier to get listed in the front page of google opposed to some other site like go articles, but thats just my experience.

The only thing is the time takes to get an article approved at Ezine articles was taking me a week recently. I upgraded to the premium service before, but 90 odd dollars a month is pretty pricey for my liking. So cancelled it just now and see how it goes, always an option for the future.

    Take Care

    Graeme

  27. Melanie says:

    Hey Paul,

Ezine articles is great. A fantastic way to get yourself on the 1st page for particular niches. Great tip about re-directing to the affiliate link via a domain.

    Cheers
    Mel

  28. Paul Hooper says:

Hi Anatoly, yes I have had a lot of good experience with Ezine and rate them way above all of the other article directories. They are very strict and do have a lot of rules, but that is what makes them such a quality directory. I know it can be frustrating when articles get denied, but the trick is to learn why they have been denied and avoid these mistakes in the future.
When they do get published, they respond better in the search engines than any other directory IMO.

    Cheers,
    Paul

  29. Paul Hooper says:

Hi Graeme, I agree, they do get indexed very quickly with the right keywords and respond well to backlinking.
Just keep writing articles and once you get to 25 or so published you will be upgraded to platinum status and your articles will be published in 48 hours (or less in a lot of cases from my experience)
    Cheers,
    Paul

  30. Paul Lear says:

Some good information here Paul, I’ve seen that tactic used & it seems to work very well.

Article marketing is something I’ve yet to start yet, but I can’t wait to start now, I’ve got plenty of ideas for articles. It’s just deciding which articles should go on my blog, & which to submit to Ezine. It’s also finding the time to write them as well of course, but I can easliy add it into my day plans.

    Paul.

  31. Paul Hooper says:

Hi Paul, article marketing can be quite time consuming, but once you get into the swing of it you’ll be surprised how many articles you can knock out in a few hours.
    Give it a go…:-)

    Cheers,
    Paul

  32. Hey Paul,

Brilliant, simple solution and the video instruction is extremely helpful.

A big thankyou for putting this up.

    Talk soon,
    Andrew.

  33. Paul Hooper says:

    Hi Andrew,

Yes, i use this method a lot because Ezine articles are the best article directory, so it is worth doing a little extra work to get your articles published there.

    Cheers,
    Paul

  34. don-andrew says:

    Hey Paul,

Great stuff as usual!, my question is after the domain has been forwarded, how do you get link this with the ezine article? I am not clear as to where to go from here!

  35. Paul Hooper says:

Hi Andrew, once you have made the redirect to your own domain, you can use this domain in the article resource box. Ezine Articles don’t allow any affiliate links to be used, but with this redirect technique you are using your own domain and redirecting straight to the affiliate product page.
    Hope that helps,
    Paul

  36. Ron says:

    Aloha Paul,

Great info on the re-direct for domains and affiliate links through Ezines. What do you do about capturing an email from the visitor to the affiliate site? Or do you just want the sale?

    Look forward to your response.

P.S. If you can INCREASE! your volume in your videos it would be great!!

    Mahalo
    Ron

  37. Paul Hooper says:

    Hi Ron,

You can always capture names. Just buy a domain name and put a squeeze page up on the main domain, then send the traffic from articles to the squeeze page. Give them some juicy info on the squeeze page of what they can see if they opt in, then once they have opted in, use your affiliate link for the product as your confirmation link, so as soon as they confirm their email (if you’re using double optin), they will be sent to the affiliate sales page via your affiliate link.
    Hope that helps,
    Paul
