Hi Paul,

I scrolled through the titles of posts and I always like to read anything that has to do with planning and focus. I agree. You have to focus and stick to a plan. Otherwise, you'll be taken away by distractions. I have to say about the timer part...that thing that often stops me is a technical glitch I have to work out because I am still learning so to give myself an hour to do something might work, and then again, it might not be realistic. I've spent hours sometimes trying to figure things out. It's getting better though. Practise makes perfect...so I need more practise....

Hi Cindy, yes it is important to research and gather as much info as possible, but you should only do so for the method or strategy you want to work on. For example, if you decided to give article marketing a go, then get as much info and learn as much as you can about article marketing only. This way you will stay focused and learn a lot faster. If you try to learn ten things at once it will have the opposite effect.

Tomorrow IS another day, onwards and upwards :-)

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Peter, you're right when you say "to plan is to commit", but if you want to succeed at this you do need to commit, and you do need a plan. I find working to a countdown timer so effective for me, i am so much more productive when i do.
Thanks,
Paul

I'm new to this affiliate marketing adventure and BOY HOWDY can I relate to what you're saying here. I vow every morning to put at least something in action but tend to get distracted by all the emails and folks claiming to have 'the only program you'll ever need.'

It's my fault--nobody else's. I have now unsubscribed to most all of the folks but have kept a few that I like and who offer value as opposed to the hype and fluff. Research and gathering info is important but there's a limit eh?

Hi Paul,

This post just arrived as I sit at my PC working on my next blog post. I keep getting distracted by email - including yours! :o)

A timer is a must and I have yet to start using one, despite all the advice given.

And yes, I will close Outlook down when I'm working from now on.

To plan is to commit and I think that’s what puts so many people off.

So your little nudge is appropriate and timely.

Great Stuff!

I worked for myself most of my life and it took many years to learn to get organized... though, staying organized is still a challenge at times :(

Hi Paul, yes using a countdown timer has made such a huge difference to my productivity and i would highly recommend it to people if they are suffering from a lack of focus too.

That saying is so true and relevant to this :-)

Thanks Paul, hope all is well.

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Annie, I understand your frustrations. I have had to blank out the name you mentioned for legal reasons, hope you understand.

Thanks,

Hi Paul,

I absolutely agree with this post.

Distraction is the biggest enemy of making progress in Internet Marketing.

You need to close down the Facebook and Twitter pages, shut down Outlook Express or whatever you use and focus on specific goals.

It's funny that you mention timers, I just got myself one too ... close the door, shut down all distractions and focus on work 1 hour at a time.

This is my favorite saying from Confucius:

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

It's amazing what progress you can make one step at a time.

My problems always seem to be technical. What causes me to lose focus most is seeing an answer to a prayer at a moderate price. I pay, something is not clearly explained. So I e-mail for help. No help arrives after 4 requests. If I persist I get a refund, but never help. ***** ********* is currently the marketer concerned. It pains me to have to waste time when someone has my money and does not deliver.I had given this marketer a second chance. More fool me. The same thing has happened again.
